Bridget Carey studied jointly at the Royal Academy of Music and London University, and gained a Masters degree in Performance in 1987 Since that time she has pursued a varied freelance career based in London, working with artists from Sir Peter Maxwell Davies to the Spice Girls. She has gained a particular reputation in the field of new music, working closely with many composers.

She is principal viola with many of London’s leading contemporary music ensembles, including Okeanos, Ensemble Exposé, Apartment House and the Almeida ensemble, has played with Topologies and Double Image and was a member of the Kreutzer Quartet – both ensembles which have made several recordings for Metier.
