John Ramsay String Quartets 1-4 (score – no parts)

John Ramsay was a geologist by profession, and one of the honorable and incredibly skilled amateur (in the real sense of the word) composers: his four string quartets have been praised unanimously by music critics in several countries following their world premiere recording by the Fitzwilliam String Quartet on Metier Records. These are modern works written in a relatively traditional tonal style so are most accessible and should not pose undue difficulties for competent players.
