Hugh Wood was much admired as both a composer and a teacher; he studied at new College Oxford  and began to make his mark in the early 1960s.    Several of his works were performed at the Proms, and he was also given numerous BBC commissions.  He composed over 70 songs, choral works,  a symphony and several quartets.  His Clarinet Trio (recorded for Divine Art by Trio Gemelli) remains one of his less-known works.
