Niki Yan

Niki Yan graduated from the Performance Department of the Central Academy of Drama. As a child, she studied dance professionally for eight years, specializing in ballet and Chinese classical dance. Since graduating in 2010, she has starred in over 30 films and more than 10 television series. Her starring role in the film “Akita” won the Asia Pacific Film Alliance Award at the 34th Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland. Her starring role in the film “Lover” was nominated for Best Actress in the Foreign Language Film category at the 2019 Milan International Film Festival. Her starring role in the film “Mystery Domain: Soul-Devouring Ridge” was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the American International Horror Film Festival. Her starring role in the film “Years” won the “Red Maple Leaf” Award at the 12th Vancouver Chinese Film Festival. From 2018 to 2019, she recorded and appeared in Tencent Video’s large-scale scenario program “A Good Book,” which was well-received by audiences, and she gave outstanding performances in the show. Specific details are as follows: In the first episode of the second season of “A Good Book,” titled “Red Crag,” Niki Yan played Communist Party member Sun Mingxia. She and her fiancé Liu Siyang were arrested together by the Kuomintang reactionaries, and although covered in scars in prison, her eyes remained resolute and unyielding. Through her emotionally moving performance, Niki Yan presented the image of Sun Mingxia as indomitable and righteously resolute. Her line “People cannot bow their noble heads; begging cannot bring freedom” moved the audience at the scene. Playing Vera in “A Good Book”: In the episode themed on “And Then There Were None,” Niki Yan played the governess Vera. She vividly portrayed through her superb acting skills Vera’s panicked outcries when facing accusations on the mysterious deserted island, her serious panic when analyzing the situation, her helpless gaze, and her tense struggle when facing death.
