Manfred Spitaler

Manfred Spitaler was born and raised in South Tyrol, Italy, and has lived in Switzerland since 1998. After studies in Bolzano and Winterthur he obtained a diploma in bass clarinet with distinction from Ernesto Molinari in Bern. He works as a freelance musician, mainly in the field of new music and improvisation. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Ensemble für Neue Musik Zürich, and since 2009 of the Ensemble ö! Performances on the international stage have included Zurich meets Moscow, Temporada del CDMC (Madrid), Contemporary Music Week (Bucharest), Lucerne Festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Wien Modern, Festival Agora (Paris), Close Encounters (Georgia/Switzerland), 2days/2nights (Odessa) and Salzburg Festival.
