Ignas Misiura, bass-baritone, was born in Vilnius in 1963. He started his musical carer in the male voice choir led by H. Perelstein, and studied at the College of Music in Vilnius and later at the Lithuanian Academy of Music, graduating from the latter as a choir conductor in 1990, and as a singer from Prof. Noreika’s class of 1994, receiving his Master’s degree the following year. He has worked with the Lithuanian TV Choir, and since 1993 has been a soloist of the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre.
His roles include Yanadori in Madama Butterfly, Onegin in Eugen Onegin, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas and Fiorello in The Barber of Seville, amongst many others. His stage repertoire also includes the part of Jesus in Bach’s St Matthew Passion and also in Lizst’s Christus, and solo parts in Bach’s B minor Mass, Handel’s Messiah and many other choral sacred works, which he has performed with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.
