Gwendeline Lumaret

Cello

Gwendeline Lumaret began her studies at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon, where she won cello and chamber music prizes at the age of fifteen. She gave her first solo concert at the age of fourteen, performing Elgar’s Concerto. She continued her training at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne- Billancourt, then at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot, where she obtained a concert diploma in the class of Alain Meunier, as well as a chamber music prize unanimously with congratulations from the jury. In the same year, she obtained her advanced diploma in analysis, with a dissertation on the theme of Musical Thought in the Works of Stravinsky under the direction of Jean-Dominique Pasquet.

In 2004, she won First Prizes in cello and chamber music at the Union des Femmes Artistes Musiciennes International Competition, as well as a unanimous First Prize at the Gaetano Braga Interpretation Competition. She studied with great masters such as Philippe Muller and Lluis Claret at the Conservatorio Superior de Barcelona. Gwendeline Lumaret has performed in France and abroad, in numerous chamber music ensembles and as a soloist. She plays with the Coruscant Chamber Orchestra and was co-solo cellist with the Orchestre Hexagone. Keen to open up to new aesthetics, she organises projects within her artistic association SAFPEM, working to bring together different cultures and world music.

Her latest project is a collaboration with Azerbaijani singer Alim Qaasimov, which has resulted in a series of recordings. Passionate about teaching, she obtained a Master’s degree in Pedagogy at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and holds the Certificat d’Aptitude en pédagogie. After teaching at the Gabriel Fauré Conservatoire in Savigny-le-Temple, she was recruited from 01.04.23 at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Besançon. She holds a diploma in orchestral conducting from the Schola Cantorum in Paris.
