Gintare Skeryté

Gintaré Skeryté (mezzo-soprano) graduated in piano studies at the Lithuanian Vilnius Academy, and then studied singing there. She has made her career principally in oratorio and recital works, and the great composers of both the Baroque and contemporary periods prevail in her repertoire, including many non-traditional pieces by Lithuanian composers such as F. Bajoras, B Kutavicius and A. Martinaitis. She has performed with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Latvian Chamber Orchestra and Collegium Musicum.

In 1993 she took part in the Lucerne contemporary music festival, singing work by Kutavicius, and has also been invited to participate in festivals in Wroclaw and Warsaw. Ms. Skeryté has recently recorded a CD of Lithuanian contemporary music.
