This is part of a celebrity recital series of live CDs, in this case recorded live at Chetham’s international summer schools and festivals for pianists, back in 2007.
This recital lasts 58 minutes and it’s nigh on impossible to tell it’s live — she plays superbly and the recording is excellent.
The pieces performed are Humoreske in B flat major, Op 20; Romance in F sharp major, Op 28, No 2; and Piano Sonata No. 1 in F sharp minor, Op 11, which comes in four movements and is just over half the playing time.
We’d guess the playing is technically difficult but Fiderkiewicz pulls it off with aplomb, and as well as playing the piece, delivers the various changes of mood throughout. She has a lightness of touch and simplicity of approach that make this a very easy listen, whether as background music or with the volume turned louder for relaxation purposes.
“Pianists Caroline Clemmow and Anthony Goldstone play this music with elegance and intelligence... This is an important addition to the Schubert discography.” (#Fanfare) #pianoduet #Schubert #classicalpiano divineartrecords.com…
