Musical Opinion

Although rather short on playing-time, this, but big on interest for those who follow contemporary American mainstream classical music, the phenomenally prolific (genuinely over 1000 opus numbers – he is still in his mid-thirties) Carson Cooman’s music may not invariably possess the staying-power of some of his more eminent forebears but it is always of considerable interest and inspirational provenance. The performances, given in the composer’s presence, are clearly committed and full of interest, and this disc is strongly recommended for those looking to experience some modern music which does not abjure traditional standards of tonality and design.
