Gypsy-inspired music is such a good idea for a piano disc you wonder why no one thought of it before. Apart from the gritty Fantasia Baetica (Falla) and stolid Dances of Galanta (Kodály), the music is, as you’d expect, tuneful, scintillating and easy on the ear, triumphantly rounded off by Enescu’s own transcription of his Romanian Rhapsody no. 1. Anthony Goldstone’s touch is a tad deliberate at times, but this is a most enjoyable disc. [Awarded four stars ]
