THEATRE BEL-ETAGE took over an old music hall in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2000,and has since produced and recorded many Edwardian and Victorian shows, musical revues and comic operas.
The company is well known for championing British music, especially Gilbert & Sullivan, whose work was not previously well known to Estonian audiences. Many of the company’s singers have also taken principal roles at the Estonian National Opera and other opera companies.
Bel-Etage also has a ballet company and two orchestras and is constantly in demand at home and abroad. The company is led by its principal baritone and conductor, Mart Sander. Their performances are sparkling and brilliant and have done much to re-introduce English light music and Edwardian musical comedy to new audiences.
