The Philharmonia


The Philharmonia Orchestra is based currently at the Royal Festival Hall in London. It was founded in 1945 by Walter Legge. It has attracted most of the world’s finest conductors, including Sir Thomas Beecham, Herbert von Karajan, Arturo Toscanini, Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Otto Klemperer, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Christoph von Dohnányi and Esa-Pekka Salonen.

The orchestra has made over a thousand recordings – both commercial audio releases and film soundtracks.
