Ophelia Gordon

Ophelia Gordon is a British concert pianist distinguished by her fearless advocacy for contemporary fusion repertoire and her uncompromising artistic integrity. She is known for her commanding technique and for bringing a vital new perspective to the intersection of jazz and classical music.

Gordon is the first British female pianist to record a full album of works by Nikolai Kapustin and the first classical alum of the renowned BRIT School. Her debut album, Kapustin: Between the Lines, a monumental 20-track featuring the complete 8 Concert Etudes, is set to be released to critical acclaim on Divine Art Records and has earned a mention in Gramophone magazine.

For Gordon, performance is an act of anchoring and clarity. Her recording of Kapustin’s music—a complex fusion of jazz rhythms and classical rigor—is a testament to the power of artistic structure as a tool for resilience. Having recorded the album while navigating profound personal challenges, Gordon’s playing is driven by the conviction that music provides necessary structure when life is in chaos. She is committed to fostering conversations that extend beyond the stage, advocating for mental well-being and the role of artistic passion in rebuilding one’s life.

Her career spans teaching, performing, and collaborative piano, and she is currently on the faculty at Alleyn’s School, one of London’s leading schools for music and the arts. She won 1st place at the ARS Nova International Competition in 2021 and served as the Resident Pianist for the Art Song Preservation Society at the Manhattan School of Music in New York in 2024.

A versatile musician, Ophelia began her journey at the BRIT School, where she studied classical guitar, piano, and double bass. She earned her Bachelor’s of Music at Durham University and City University London, where she specialised in classical guitar and double bass. Ophelia is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in piano performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where she was awarded both the Trinity College London Scholarship and the Cutlers’ Scholarship. She studies under Ji Liu, the Head of Keyboard at Trinity Laban, and with renowned jazz pianist Liam Noble.

She aims to be defined by a career of sincere connection and uncompromising self-expression, seeking to inspire audiences by proving that great art is always born from deep, honest living.
