Michał graduated from the Music Academy in Łódź in 2012 under Prof. Cezary Sanecki piano class. He further honed his skills in Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart and later in Mannheim, where he studied in Prof. Andrzej Ratusiński’s piano masterclass and in
chamber music class under Prof. Michael Flaksman and Prof. Jelena Ocić. The artist is a laureate of many national and international music competitions. The most prestigious are: distinction at the Chopin Competition Władysław Kędra in Łódź, 2nd Prize and Special Prize for best performance of a Polish modern piece at XVII International Chamber Music Competition in Łódź, Special Prize for best pianist at XVIII International J. Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, IV Prize at IV International Lied-Duo Richard Strauss Competition in Sofia.
Michał Rot leads an active concert life both in his country and abroad. He had the honour of performing at important concert halls, including: Polish National Philharmonic, National Forum of Music, Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra hall, Polish Baltic Philharmonic, Lowersilesian Philharmonic, Podkarpacka Philharmony, Philharmonies in Opole, Łódź Częstochowa, Kalisz, Zielona Góra, and many other philharmonic and important culture institutions, such as: Cercle Royale Gaulois in Brussels, Eroica-Saal in Vienna, Baal-Saal in Heidelberg, Townhall in Vilnius, Matrisse du Notre Dame in Rouen, Philharmony and Opera in Lviv.
The artist has collaborated with prominent artists: Michael Flaksman, Justus Grimm, Ernst Kovacic, Joseph Swensen, Agata Szymczewska, Volodia Mykytka, Roberto Trainini, Natan Dondalski, Jerzy Salwarowski, Christian Danowicz, Daniel Raiskin, Tomasz Daroch, Jelena Ocić, Piotr Tarcholik, Andrzej Kosendiak, Radosław Pujanek. Michał Rot has received the scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for outstanding achievements in the field of music.
The pianist has made many recordings among which are Schubert’s Winterreise (DUX) with baritone Stanisław Kierner ; Song of Earth (Polish Radio Recordings) with violinist Aleksandra Szwejkowska – Belica; Reger Duo plays Yagling (DUX) with world premiere recordings of Victoria Yagling’s cello works with Krzysztof Karpeta; Jan Novák. Chamber Music (DUX) and two recordings nominated to prestigious Fryderyk Award: in 2021: Paderewski, Koczalski, Szymanowski. Songs (DUX) with baritone Stanisław Kierner; and in 2020: Mieczysław
Wajnberg. Sonatas for Cello and Piano (DUX) with cellist Wojciech Fudala. The duo’s next recording “Transfiguration” (DUX), featuring works by Karol Szymanowski, Ernest Bloch and Rebecca Clarke, has been published in 2022.
