Judith Sheridan’s rich and varied musical career has taken her across continents and into the opera houses, concert halls and educational establishments of Europe and America. She spent ten years as an operatic principal at Hamburg, performing roles as diverse as Leonora in La Forza del Destino, Hanna Glawari in Die Lustige Witwe and Jenny in Weill’s Rise and Fall of the State of Mahagonny. After returning to England, Judith divides her time between performing, conducting and teaching, leading workshops for both solo singers and choirs. She has taught regularly at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Queens University Belfast and the Birmingham School of Acting.
Judith’s special interest in the rarely-performed music of recently-discovered composers banned under the Nazi regime was ignited by hearing a performance of Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg in Hamburg. Her “Forbidden Voices” CD is the culmination of many years’ research and performances of this remarkable music.
Judith performs regularly in the UK and in the USA, appearing with the Midgard Ensemble, and in her soprano-duet “Duality”.
