Barbara Karaskiewicz

A graduate of the Academy of Music in Katowice, where she studied under the guidance of Prof. Monika Sikorska-Wojtachy and Prof. Wojciech Świtała, and in the chamber music class of Prof. Urszula Bożek-Musialska. In 2013, she received a PhD degree, and in 2018 a habilitation degree, both awarded by the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Barbara works as a university professor in the Department of Music of the Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa and in the Department of Chamber Music at the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
The artist is a laureate of many competition awards: the 4th International K. Szymanowski Competition in Łódź (Special Award for the Best Pole funded by the Ministry of Culture and Art); Stage of the Young competition of the 29th Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk (Special Award for the best performance of K. Szymanowski’s works); XXVII and XXVIII Competition for F. Chopin Artistic Scholarships in Warsaw; 1st Polish National Piano Competition F. Chopin in Warsaw.
The pianist has performed in almost all European countries, as well as in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Uruguay. She performs piano recitals and performs as a soloist of symphonic concerts conducted by: Stefan Bevier, Szymon Bywalec, Ernest Hoetzl, Ruben Silva, Jerzy Swoboda, Pavel Šnajder, Arvo Volmer, Józef Wiłkomirski, Monika Wolińska.
The artist has released 9 albums so far: three with piano works by Roman Statkowski (Acte Prealable, Divine Art), one with solo piano works by the British contemporary composer Michael Garrett (Acte Prealable), one with piano works by Karol Szymanowski (Divine Art)
which was nominated for the Fryderyk 2018 Music Award, and two recordings with chamber music: Bronisław Huberman – Tribute to the Violin Genius with Magdalena Ziarkowska-Kołacka and 20th Century Polish Chamber Music (Divine Art, 2020) which also was nominated for
the Fryderyk 2021 Music Award in the category Best Polish Album Abroad with Magdalena Ziarkowska and Sergey Rysanov.
