Husband-and-wife two-piano/piano-duet team Tony Goldstone and Caroline Clemmow here present an absorbing programme with a decidedly Eastern flavour. Their ravishing sensitivity to mood and atmosphere makes indelible a series of miniatures by Gorb, Glière, Mayer, Saint-Saëns, Holst, McPhee, Achron and Borodin. The last is the composer’s rarely-heard piano-duet arrangement of his “In the Steppes of Central Asia”. A performance as beguilingly sensuous and deeply felt as this is worth the asking price of the disc alone.
